The Benefits of Working Closely with a Voice Actor Specialist

Some of us are professional lone wolves, but it's uncommon. Most people thrive and do their best creative work collaboratively in some network or community. The voice-over industry is isolating these days, with each of us in our individual studios and offices worldwide. By making a conscious effort to engage your team more often, you can combat isolation.  Whether you reach out to a female or male voice actor or an editor, director, or agent, it's more than smart business networking.

For example, voice-over artists often work project to project see authors, directors, project managers, and clients come and go each week. Engaging them more often helps create a professional hub and a closer team to celebrate wins and commiserate losses. In return, others will do more of what they love and provide opportunities to book more gigs, jobs, and events, knowing that work and support are flowing.

If you are working with either a female or male voice actor, prepare yourself to communicate and lead well. Use some focused time to explain your thought process, workflow, and expectations, as well as answering any questions. Their time is valuable and being an effective collaborator means respecting that.  Ensure that you're over-communicating on any projects, deadlines, or expectations. Finally, make sure you follow-up on everything, and that you always ask for questions, and be open to feedback. The creative results will reflect all your coordinating and communications efforts.
