IT IS A MUST TO BE PRESENT IN YOUR DELIVERY

Before stepping into the booth it is necessary to literally turn off your mind. As a voice actor, we cannot be thinking of anything else other than the words that appear on the screen in front of you. If you find your mind wandering away from the script. Stop recording. Start over. It is imperative that we remain fully engaged with the words, the story, the emotions and the motive to be emotive. Your listener can tell if you are not connected with the script. You will lose their attention, you will lose the opportunity to make an impact and most likely lose the audition and/or the client. To be a believable voice actor, we must also believe in what we are saying. To do this, we must be extremely present. This is a daily practice. To be present in our thinking. Something we can develop through meditation, prayer, exercise, tuning into nature, our breathing…there are many ways to do this. If you don’t feel present while recording, time to hit the ‘reset’ button and start over.
